Matter of Ecology

The ecology of the planet does not need human settlement to survive.  It is human settlement that needs the ecology of the planet to survive.  The modern world, and its faith in the power of technology, has managed to ignore the forces of nature through its exploitation of air, water and soil.  This failing approach will need to be replaced by strategies in which human settlement will integrate itself with nature as opposed to standing separate from nature.  Further our own human systems needs to be designed in ways that contribute to the health of its members.  Finding ways to support a unified planet ecology, which ends the wasteful settlement patterns of the past, must be fundamental to future human settlement.
